The Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, through the Blue Star Museums program, will offer free admission for actively serving members of the armed forces, as well as up to five family members, from Armed Forces Day, May 16, through Labor Day 2026.

The Junior Historian Program at the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum invites children ages 7 to 12 to discover local history and the outdoors through hands-on activities. The program runs during the summer for four days per session, with three hours of activities each day.

The Southern Maryland Semiquincentennial will present Rebels & Redcoats: A Southern Maryland Revolutionary War event commemorating the American War for Independence as it happened in St. Mary’s County. The event will be held 10am to 4pm April 11 and 12, 2026.

Join the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum for a family fun evening of storybooks and hot cocoa February 14. Children can dress in their comfiest jammies and bring their favorite stuffed animal to a cozy storytime adventure.

St. Clement’s Island and Piney Point Lighthouse museums will host Community Day from 10am to 5pm Friday, February 13, 2026. Community Day allows the public to get involved with the planning of new exhibits by sharing historic documents, photos, and other significant objects related to the history of the Colton’s Point and Piney Point areas.

Evening Tides: Candlelight Christmas at Piney Point returns this holiday season to the lighthouse museum after a successful launch in 2024. This year’s program will be held from 5 to 8pm Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Build a Lighthouse, Brick by Brick

The Friends of St. Clement’s Island & Piney Point Museums are sponsoring a competition in honor of the oldest lighthouse on the Potomac River. For the challenge, participants will create a lighthouse model using interlocking building bricks and bring it to the Piney Point museum for display and judging.

Bells of Peace Will Ring Nov. 11

The bells at St. Clement’s Island Museum and Piney Point Lighthouse Museum will toll at 11am November 11, 2025, to honor the 116,516 Americans, including the 27 St. Mary’s County natives, who died in World War I.
