Hoyer Praises Community Safety Legislation

They ensure small and medium-sized police departments receive the federal funding and support they deserve while maintaining accountability, authorize new federal grants for mental-health crisis response, invest in community violence interruption programs that prevent and mediate disputes before they escalate, and provide additional funds to solve unsolved gun crimes and ensure justice for victims.”

Medicine Readiness Pax River Gets New Commander
CAPT Jeremy J. Hawker took command of Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Patuxent River with a staff of 302 active duty service members, civilians and contractors who provides medical care to 12,000 beneficiaries across 279 tenant commands at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Naval Support Activity South Potomac and Joint Base Andrews.
MD Ballots in the Mail; Drop Boxes Appearing

Fed Workers Face Hike in Health Insurance Premiums
Federal employees will pay 8.7% more, on average, toward their 2023 health premiums. The stark hike reflects the COVID-19 pandemic timeline: a drop in use of elective benefits resulted in a lower average increase over the past four years. As elective benefit use increases, so do premiums. The cost of prescription drug prices also contributed to the increase.

Recruitment Shortfalls Plague All Services
Only the Air Force hit all of its active duty recruiting goals for 2022, but even so failed to meet its Reserve goals. The Navy met its active duty enlistment goals, but the Army missed its enlisted goal by 15,000.
Pax Gate 3 Hours Extended
Beginning today, Oct. 3, NAS Patuxent River extend the open hours at Gate 3 from 5:30am to 6pm weekdays. Gate 3 will close on weekends and holidays.
