4 Complete Crisis Intervention Training

Two Earn Deputy of the Year Awards

St. Mary’s County deputies were honored as Deputies of the Year at the 2024 Maryland Sheriff’s Association Professional Development Seminar earlier this month. Detective Sgt. Austin Schultz received the Crime Prevention Award, and Deputy Joseph Senatore was recognized with the Traffic Safety Award.

Deputy Recruit Achieves US Citizenship

Mina Geric, a recruit at the St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Office, realized her dream of becoming a US citizen when she took her oath of allegiance last month. Her next step: completing the training program at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy.

COPs Provide Cold Weather Assistance, Resources

Employees of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and Health Department engaged with homeless residents December 21 to provide essential resources and assistance. They distributed bags containing cold-weather survival supplies, including hats, gloves, socks, blankets, hand warmers, and toiletries. The team also offered information about housing alternatives and food banks.

Keeping Silent Angels Forever in Minds, Hearts

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office hosted the 22nd annual Silent Angel Memorial, an observance of reflection and remembrance for family and friends of those whose lives were taken by acts of violence.

Warning to Local Motorists: Slow Down!

Law enforcement has issued a warning to St. Mary’s County motorists: Slow Down! Speeding, distracted driving, and aggressive driving have been identified as contributing factors in many of this year’s crashes.

Steering Wheel Locks at District 4 Station

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has collaborated with Hyundai and Kia, who have donated steering wheel locks to help citizens take that extra step toward safety. The steering wheel locks will be available for pickup, free of charge, to residents at the District 4 station in Lexington Park.
