Routine Maintenance on Solomons, Benedict Bridges
The Maryland State Highway Administration will perform routine maintenance on two state-maintained bridges in Southern Maryland this month: Sunday morning, April 12, on the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge and Sunday morning, April 26, on Hallowing Point Road.
Traffic Alert: Solomons Bridge Work Begins Jan. 18
The Maryland State Highway Administration will begin routine structural and maintenance work on the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge at the Calvert/St. Mary’s County line beginning Jan. 18. The nighttime work will continue through late February, weather permitting.
Nighttime Inspection Set for Solomons Bridge Starting Nov. 9
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will inspect the MD 4 Solomons Bridge over the Patuxent River beginning November 9. The overnight work will continue through November 13, from 9pm until 5am the following morning, weather permitting.
Work on Solomons Bridge Planned April 27
Routine maintenance will be performed on the MD 4 (Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge) at the Calvert County/St. Mary’s County line starting at 6am Sunday, April 27.
Solomons Bridge Work Set March 9
Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will conduct a routine inspection on the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge. The inspection will occur between 6am and 2pm Sunday, March 9, 2025, weather permitting.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will perform routine maintenance on the MD 4 (Governor Thomas Johnson) Bridge in Calvert and St. Mary’s counties starting at 10 p.m. Monday, July 24, weather permitting. Lanes will open to traffic no later than 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, July 25.
