CSM Talons Team Earns Innovate Award
The College of Southern Maryland Talons robotics team brought home the Innovate Award from the 2018 VEX U World Championship held April 25-28 in Kentucky.
Engineering Students Receive Full Scholarships
A pair of engineering students at the College of Southern Maryland have received Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarships from the US Department of Defense. Lusby’s Kevin Jackson, 22, and Dentsville’s Noah Schaeffer, 20, received scholarships that will pay for the remainder of their undergraduate education.
Installation Ceremony Set for CSM’s President
The College of Southern Maryland’s Presidential Installation Ceremony for Dr. Maureen Murphy will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the college’s La Plata Campus.
Scholarship Benefits Jude House Clients
The Jude House Recovery Scholarship Fund has been established at the College of Southern Maryland with the Southern Maryland Women’s League providing the $5,000 initial funding to make the scholarship possible.

US Surgeon General VADM Dr. Jerome M. Adams will be the keynote speaker at College of Southern Maryland’s 59th annual Spring Commencement Ceremony on May 24 at the La Plata Campus.

The College of Southern Maryland’s Global Initiatives Committee invites the community to an interfaith panel discussion, “Seeking Common Ground: An Interfaith Conversation for Our Times,” from 2:30 to 4 pm May 15 at the college’s Prince Frederick Campus.
Zwerdling to Perform at Ward Virts Concert
Baritone Antony Zwerdling and pianist Stephen Johnson will perform at 3 pm May 13 as part of the Inaugural Festivities for CSM President Dr. Maureen Murphy. The concert will be held at the College of Southern Maryland’s Prince Frederick Campus. Both men are CSM music faculty members.

Ken Killion of Fort Washington has been hired by College of Southern Maryland as its new Cross Country coach.
Hawk Tank Pitch Contest Is a Hit
Both Jackie Koerbel and Sheila Levings admitted they were a little nervous before their turn to present projects at the College of Southern Maryland’s Hawk Tank Pitch Contest. The premier event at the college’s La Plata Campus on March 23 was the chance for CSM faculty to share ideas of how to improve the college, after which a panel of judges and the audience chose the best.
