The year 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence–a PROMISE of Freedom for All. Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States–a PROMISE of Freedom for All.  Therefore, the theme this year is “Building on the Promise of Freedom for All.”

The event will feature Ms. Story’s Living History, Ni Dembaya African Drum and Dance Ensemble, and Get2Gether Band. There will be games, face painting, and lots more children’s activities.

What Is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth is a national holiday commemorating and celebrating the end of slavery in America. It is a day of reflection, a day of renewal, a pride-filled day. It is a day for all Americans to come together to reflect on our past as a nation, celebrate the African American experience, and begin to build a brighter future together.
