Saturday Lab Work Moves to Main Hospital

Access to Care

Patients who need laboratory or blood work on Saturdays will see a slight change to the process at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. The hospital is relocating its weekend outpatient lab work services from the Outpatient Pavilion to the main hospital. This change started July 2, 2016.

In the past, patients who needed laboratory services on Saturdays were going to the Outpatient Pavilion. Saturday is the only day of the week that this change will happen, and the hours of 7 am to noon for lab work will remain the same. Also, the weekday operating schedule will not change.

If you are a patient and you need to have blood drawn or other lab work done on a Saturday, please register at the patient access area, which is located behind the visitor information desk at the main entrance to the Leonardtown hospital. Once you’ve finished the registration, a phlebotomist will fulfill your lab request.

For more information on this change or anything else related to the lab, call the laboratory at 301-475-6139.
