Knowledge Boxing Event to Host Ray Mercer Visit

Knowledge Boxing Center will host a special appearance on January 31 by Ray Mercer, former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist.

The event will begin at 3pm at 2400 Solomons Island Road South in Prince Frederick.

Mr. Mercer holds a unique and prestigious place in the record books as the last American heavyweight to win an Olympic Gold Medal. In addition to his global sports icon status, Mercer is a US Army veteran, making his visit a significant event for both the local athletic community and the region’s many military families.

“It is an incredibly rare honor to have a global sports icon and a brother-in-arms visiting our community,” said Daryl Hinmon, Knowledge Boxing Center head coach. “Opportunities like this don’t come to Southern Maryland often. We want everyone to come out and shake the hand of a man who reached the absolute pinnacle of the boxing world while representing the Red, White, and Blue.”
