Agencies Fight Drug Misuse, Abuse
Although parents almost never want to admit that their children might be abusing drugs, often the signs of drug abuse were there before the parents knew what they were seeing. This was the message of one of three seminars that focused on the drug abuse epidemic in St. Mary’s County, hosted by the sheriff’s office, public schools; and agencies such as Walden Behavioral Health.
Hoyer, QB Launch ‘Financial Football’

New Roles on Horizon for F-35
The US Air Force might deploy the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter to the Baltics for an air-policing role once the new stealth aircraft becomes operational later this year. The new fighter is to enter service with the Air Force with an interim software capability that offers limited combat capability.

St. Mary’s Surgeon Receives Honors
Dr. John Roache has touched the lives of countless patients in St. Mary’s County, many of whom are multiple generations of the same family, as well as friends, co-workers, and neighbors, for more than 42 years at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. As the respected and renowned surgeon retired from his long career, the St. Mary’s County commissioners honored him with a ceremony to thank him for all his years of service.

See the Floral Fantasies at Annmarie
Floral arrangement is a whole lot more than putting flowers in a vase, and more than 30 floral designers from all across Southern Maryland will prove that with an exhibit at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center in July. The weekend exhibit from noon to 4 pm Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17, is called Fabulous Floral Fantasies: Art Blooms Floral Exhibit and Demonstration.
