Military Wants to Keep Eye on Small UAS
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency — DARPA — wants the capability to track and identify low-flying drones, as it can with planes and other unmanned aerial systems. Systems are being developed to track UAS flying below 1,000 feet. That would be the military equivalent of the air traffic control system.
5th District Winning Artist Honored

CSM Staffers Stuff Backpacks for Students
Students in elementary, middle and high schools in Charles County have gotten an extra bit of help with school supplies this year, courtesy of a large group of volunteers from the College of Southern Maryland. The volunteers were stuffing backpacks of just about every color and design with pencils, paper, crayons, markers, highlighters, binders, composition books, glue and glue sticks, scissors, rulers and more.
