A Veterans Book Group meets on the first Saturday of the month from 2 to 4pm at the Lexington Park Library. The book discussion series is led by Vietnam veteran Wayne Karlin. Registration required for the Feb. 7 event.

Sotterley Seeks History Day Projects from Students
St. Mary’s County History Day offers students in grades 4 through 12 the opportunity to enter projects that investigate pivotal moments in history, differing perspectives on those moments, and how they impacted the events that came after. The theme is “Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History,” and the deadline to submit projects is April 18.
VFDs in Maryland Get Funds for Rural Wildfire Protection
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service is providing Volunteer Fire Assistance grants to 55 volunteer fire departments in 17 counties across the state.
