More Tax Relief for MD Military Retirees?
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore testified last week in support of a bill that would give the state’s military retirees a larger tax break. The tax exemption set would save Maryland veterans an estimated $30 million annually beginning in tax year 2024, according to the governor’s office.

1st Missile Strike Missed UFO @ Lake Huron
The first US missile fired Sunday at the unidentified aerial object over Lake Huron missed the target and “landed harmlessly” in the water before a second AIM-9X Sidewinder missile successfully hit and blew up the octagonal object.

Arts Council Hosts McNeill Photo Exhibit
A special edition of the Leonardtown, MD, A&E Artist Spotlight series will feature the life and work of renowned American photographer Robert H. McNeill. The St. Mary’s County Arts Council is also hosting an exhibit of Mr. McNeill’s jazz photography at its gallery in town. The show will run throughout February.
Catfish Still Problem in Chesapeake
Wet, Wet, Wet times brought catfish downriver with the lower salinity to the point that they have become a dominant species. Catfish dominance became obvious in 2018, still the wettest year on record for the Chesapeake Bay watershed, its impacts still affecting the rivers today. Now 2022 has clocked in as the third wettest year on record in Maryland, suggesting the trend is likely to continue.
