Submissions are being accepted for the annual Congressional Art Competition by Rep. Steny H. Hoyer‘s office.

The competition is open to high school students who reside in Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District, which includes Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties, as well as parts of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties. The students are offered an opportunity to highlight their talent, and the winner will have their artwork displayed in the US Capitol for a year.

This year’s submission deadline is Friday, February 3, 2025.

This year, Rep. Hoyer’s office will work in conjunction with the Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center to identify candidates for the Congressional Art Competition winner in Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District.

In March, Annmarie Garden will host an art showcase titled “Let Them Cook: A Teen Art Exhibition,” which will include a virtual exhibition and a juried gallery show. The juried gallery show will feature artwork selected by the Annmarie Garden exhibits team and will be on display in the Main Gallery of the center from March 7 through March 30, 2025. The virtual exhibition will be published on the Annmarie Garden website by March 14, 2025.

High school students who are interested in participating in the Fifth District’s competition must submit their original artwork to the “Let Them Cook: A Teen Art Exhibition.” The application can be found here.

To enter artwork, please refer to the following rules. The piece may be up to 26 inches by 26 inches (including the frame) and may be up to 4 inches in depth. All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution. Click here for more rules and guidelines for teachers and students.
