County to Buy Willows Rec Center

St. Mary’s County government plans to purchase the recently closed Willows Recreation Center in Lexington Park, MD. The facility is set to become the new home of the St. Mary’s Gymnastics Academy, offering competitive and recreational gymnastics.

Commerce Launches Tech Hub Grant Program

The US Commerce Department on Friday launched a program where cities can apply for grant funding to become technology hubs. The agency will accept proposals from regions across the country. The grants are part of last year’s CHIPS and Science Act to stimulate investments in new technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotech.

CH-53K Moving Toward Entry Into Service

The US Marine Corps’ CH-53K King Stallion program is preparing for its first deployment in 2025. The heavy lift helicopter recently also recently went through its second set of sea trials. The Corps continues to execute the transition from the CH-53E to the CH-53K and is on schedule to declare full operational capability in FY2029.
