TPP Hosts Cybersecurity Event March 2
The Patuxent Partnership will present “Cybersecurity: Threat Detection and Management” from 8 am to 4:30 pm Thursday, March 2, at Southern Maryland Higher Education Center at 44219 Airport Road in California.
Students Show Off Math Skills
The 23rd annual regional MATHCOUNTS competition Feb. 4 challenged more than 230 students from 24 schools throughout Southern Maryland to test their math skills.
CSM Hosts VEX IQ Challenge
Elementary and middle school students will be competing Feb. 11, 2017, at Great Mills High School in the Southern Maryland VEX IQ Challenge. The competition is sponsored by College of Southern Maryland and supported by local businesses and The Patuxent Partnership.
Reception Will Honor TPP Science Fair Winners
The Patuxent Partnership will host its 2017 St. Mary’s County Science and Engineering special awards reception Feb. 21, honoring the middle and high school TPP and International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) award winners who participated in the science and engineering fair.
VEX Robotics Competition Set at CSM
College of Southern Maryland will host the Robotics Senior Division VEX competition Feb. 4, 2017, with support from The Patuxent Partnership. The Senior Division uses the VEX Robotics Design System for its competition platform.
Additive Manufacturing Topic of TPP Briefing
The Patuxent Partnership will host a Feb. 14 briefing on developments in the field of additive manufacturing and what it means for NAVAIR. Guest speakers will be Liz McMichael and Dr. William Frazier.
CSM Talons Qualify for World Championship
The Talons, the competitive robotics team sponsored by the College of Southern Maryland, pulled off an impressive finish at a VEX U College Robotics Skills Challenge on Jan. 6 at CSM’s La Plata Campus.

Foreign Military Sales – Opportunities for Pax River
The Patuxent Partnership briefing on foreign military sales described impacts from growing sales of US arms, defense equipment, defense services, technical assistance, and military training to foreign governments; a 17 percent increase in defense equipment exports since 2010.
Math Girls Day Gets a Permanent Sponsor
After having to be downsized due to lack of funding, a popular semi-annual program at St. Mary’s College of Maryland has gotten a permanent sponsor. Math Girls Day, hosted by the Women in Science House Living Learning Community, or WiSH, is now being sponsored by Mathnasium.
