CSM Begins January Term
All campuses of the College of Southern Maryland will begin classes Jan. 3 for CSM’s 2018 January term, which runs through Jan. 21. Winter commencement will be Jan. 18, 2018.
CSM Donors Break Records on Giving Tuesday

Holiday Closings Announced
The College of Southern Maryland will close for its winter break from Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, through Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.
Learning Center Collects for Food Bank
St. Charles Children’s Learning Center students at CSM are learning about giving. The center’s staff and parents donated 1,185 items of non-perishable food to the Southern Maryland Food Bank.
Veterans Honored at Annual Breakfast
John O’Connor, St. Mary’s County commissioner, did not need to explain a whole lot to his audience at the annual veterans breakfast at the College of Southern Maryland. He served in the US Army and when he talked about the bond shared among people in the service, the breakfast attendees knew exactly what he meant.
Work Ethic Motivates CSM Student
Allison Mattera knows the value of a strong work ethic. The 18-year-old Huntingtown resident is a full-time student at the College of Southern Maryland, is a member of the college’s cross-country team, and works two part-time jobs.
Jazz, Latin Ensembles Combine Concerts
The College of Southern Maryland will combine the CSM Holiday Jazz Concert and the Latin Ensemble Concert. They will be held at 8 pm Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, in La Plata.
CSM Plans CTET Open House Dec. 16
The College of Southern Maryland will host an open house from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at the Center for Trades and Energy Training at the Regional Hughesville Campus.
ScienceTellers Visit Childcare Center
Science was the word of the day for kids between 2 and 12 at the St. Charles Children’s Learning Center at the College of Southern Maryland. Children at the center learned a variety of science concepts — such as hypothesis, condensation, and evaporation — at a ScienceTellers presentation Nov. 10 at CSM’s La Plata Campus.
