The St. Mary’s County Planning Commission will conduct hearings June 29 and July 7, 2026, as part of the St. Mary’s 2050 planning process.
Leadership Southern Maryland recently graduated it 18th Executive Program class at the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland in California, MD.
In 2021, I gave snarky names to 10 Ospreys who spent their summers within range of my middling telescope and I needed a way to differentiate them. There were so many Osprey through 2023 their poop was a community issue. Then it wasn’t an issue anymore.

The Veterans Lounge at the College of Southern Maryland’s La Plata Campus has been renovated, and the college is excited to show it off. An open house is scheduled at the lounge from 10:30 to 11:30 am Nov. 9.
US Department of Labor’s October 2016 jobs report shows continued trend of job growth; 142,000 private sector jobs were added and the unemployment rate remained steady at 4.9 percent.
Joseph “Bubby” Knott, owner of the Great Mills Trading Post, will be honored by the Community Foundation of Southern Maryland during its 11th annual Philanthropy Day Luncheon and Celebration of Business Philanthropy. The luncheon is set for 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Nov. 4, 2016, and will be held at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center in Waldorf, Maryland.
